Frank Smith is honoured during Adult Learners’ Week in London
For many years Frank Smith has taken full advantage of the Adult Learners’ programme, and has attended evening classes in Basic English and ceramics, to learn the communication skills that most people take for granted as they grow into adulthood.
Frank’s incredible personal story of determination to win through enormous emotional and physical challenges in life, is faithfully recorded in his paintings, and also in the book that he struggled for so many years to write, (‘A Brush with Life’. Weidenfeld and Nicolson, ISBN 0 279 83231 X. 1993).
He has already received National recognition for his personal achievements, and his continued progress has been recognised again by the Adult Learners’ foundation during a ceremony in London during May 2002.
Not bad going for a 76 year old!
Frank was the first member of the New British Naives, and will be showing at their first Naïve exhibition at the prestigious Chelsea Harbour complex in London from the 16th August 2002.
