Dean Williams was born into a loving family in Leicester in 1970.  Although he was always interested in drawing at school, his grades didn't allow him to take up the career in Design that he wanted.  Instead, he went to work in an engineering factory at the age of 16.

After meeting a local careers advisor, he decided to take a part time A-Level in Art, which he successfully completed in a single year, and then did a foundation course at De Montford, prior to being offered a place at Loughborough to study Illustration.

During his A-Level course, Dean came across the work of Frank Smith, and made arrangements to go and see him.  Frank encouraged him to follow his nose into art, which he has done with remarkable commitment.

I met Dean round at Frank's house one day, and was immediately struck by the humorous candour of his work.  His Pampered Pets series is made from photomontages of various female parts (clothed and naked), and is represented on the site here, together with Curley Keith, a 3-D mongrel made from beauty products.

Dean's work is designed to amuse, and it does this  with superb, colourful originality.  The facial expressions of his characters are little short of genius, and reflect the subtle power of photomontage.
