John Hayward
John
is a fascinating man with a lifelong interest in painting and drawing.
Born in 1937 in Catford,
South East London, He has had a varied work career. From production assistant
at the Royal College of Art to factory worker from librarian to messenger,
John is now an outreach worker with people with mental health problems in SE
London & Kent.
Throughout his working
life, John has periodically taken time out to study and travel to ‘recharge’
himself, and has a remarkable catalogue of achievements to his credit.
He has degrees in both
History and Anthropology, and also has an MA from Thames Polytechnic.
He has made extended
overseas journeys to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Nigeria, as well as
freighting around Greenland, and over-landing to Japan, via the trans –
Siberian railway.
John’s painting reflects
his love of SE London and has developed a unique way of capturing its soul.
He works in oils on
hardboard and has had exhibitions in Blackheath London, Germany, and at the
Royal College of Art.
